April Hemeyer
Counselor in Training
Hello! I am April Hemeyer, and I am currently working towards a Master's in Community Counseling at Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Missouri, with the goal of becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor by December 2026. I have an undergraduate degree in Organizational Communications from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. My experiences include serving as an outside sales representative for a fundraising company and for a distributor of Benjamin Moore Paint. My husband and I have renovated a number of homes and have a love for the character of an old house. I have my real estate license in Missouri and was an active realtor for 14 years. I have enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom and a substitute teacher as well. You could say I like variety and change. One constant since high school has been the desire to become a counselor. I am excited and humbled to be on this path presently. I want to meet clients where they are, offer empathy, understanding, encouragement, and empowerment, and, together, find a path to healing, life change, and enjoyment.
I have lived in Kansas City, Missouri, and still have a love for a big city. Our hometown is Marshall, Missouri, and that is where we chose to raise our family. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling as much as I can, learning new things, challenging myself, and taking time for relaxation. I am a nature lover, grew up on a farm, and am an animal lover. I currently have 5 cats and 1 horse. I also spend time being involved in my community through the Mental Health Board of Saline County and our local Marshall Homeless Shelter and Services efforts.
