Tressa Hickman

Restorative Mentor

Hi friends! My name is Tressa Hickman, and I’m a mentor at Restore Counseling. I live in Columbia, Missouri, with my husband and our dog, Honey. My career began in pediatric occupational therapy in schools and clinics, where I spent much of my time teaching children how to regulate their emotions through sensory and movement based strategies. What fuels my desire to be a Restorative Mentor goes beyond my professional passions and reflects my own personal healing journey. Through deep-rooted prayer, therapy, and the support of others, I’ve experienced profound hope and healing, and I feel called to offer that same empathy and support to others. Being a restorative mentor, where I can create a safe space for clients to feel their emotions with compassion and understanding, is a true honor.

Some of my favorite things in life: all things Mexican food—especially fresh chips and salsa outside, good music with the windows down, quality time with my family and friends, my church, cooking and trying new recipes, hunting for the perfect thrift find, expressing myself through art, fashion, and makeup, and cozying up with fuzzy socks, a good book, or an old rom-com.

I’m so excited to walk with others on their healing journey in an authentic and meaningful way.
